Statement of intent
Statement of intent (MS)
My Thriller TV Drama will be about two teenagers, whose postcodes are leaked on their social media accounts after leaving a party, leading to unwanted attention from the press and dire consequences for them and their families. Through each of the 10 episodes, the protagonists narrow down the people who they’ve wronged in some way or are hated by in some way to figure out who released the posts.
For my print advertisement, I’ll ensure that I don’t traumatize young children or other vulnerable social groups by complying to the advertising standard authority’s rules by not including anything too graphic or overly sexual on the posters, as these will be on display in a bus stop for everyone to see. Certain social groups will be represented positively, so I don’t cause offence. My mystery thriller tv show would release on ITV after the watershed when all the children are asleep, as it contains some unsuitable content for younger people, but this will be put on the ITV X streaming service, so this show could be viewed at any time and I wouldn’t have much control over this, so It’s up to the parents then.
Media Audiences
Through the design of my four bus stop posters, I’ll attract the primary target audience, which is people aged 16 to 25 by representing the many social groups positively, even ambitiously and making the posters appealing to them. This will be achieved in a number of ways, such as the posterised font of the title, illustrating the dark comedy genre it’ll have, plus the red and white font to show it’s a horror, a combination that’d appeal to this age group. The low-key ambient lighting of the night will set an eerie atmosphere. The posters will also mirror 90s horror films, specifically Scream, as the two main protagonists will stare down at their phone in disbelief, directly mirroring that Film’s poster of Sidney looking shocked. The protagonists will also wear button-up T-shirts, as if they’ve just returned from a party, creating a sense of relatability with the target audience, since this age group is known to party lots.
